What are the requirements for a degree at the UM?
An undergraduate degree at the University of Maryland
is comprised of
three components: courses in the academic major, general education
courses
and elective courses. The number of elective courses varies from
major to
major. Academic major courses usually include lower level (100
and 200
numbered courses) and upper level (300 and 400 level courses).
All
students must complete approximately 43-46 credits of general
education or
CORE. Each degree program or academic major requires at least
120 credits.
